The Philadelphia Eagles’ offense has spent the entire 2025 NFL season catching heat for underwhelming. Saquon Barkley hasn’t come close to last year’s record-breaking year.

While AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith each surpassed 1,000 yards in receiving, the numbers aren’t a direct reflection of performance. The Philly offense struggled, and they’ve admitted that much on many occasions.

Two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Long believes that the Eagles’ upcoming playoff matchup against the San Francisco 49ers is a favorable situation for the home team.

“In a lot of ways, this is a good matchup because for the offense, it is a good matchup. If the offense is a squeaky wheel, you’d probably rather see the worst defense in the dance, right? If the offense can’t get right against this defense, then it is nuclear meltdown in Philly,” Long said on his podcast this week.

The Eagles would certainly have to consider making some changes if they can’t figure out a way to make it click on the offensive side of the ball on their biggest stage yet this season.

“If this season ends because you can’t beat the Niners, can’t score with the Niners; let’s say you lose 20-17 to the Niners, then there is a problem. I looked at that defense all year long. They lost a lot of guys. It’s about the Eagles’ defense versus San Francisco’s offense. This is going to be that matchup, man. I cannot wait to see it,” Long finished.

The Eagles aren’t talking a big game offensively this week, but they are still coming off as confident. At the end of the day, they know that it’s all going to come down to execution on the field. Nothing else matters.

Many times this year, the Eagles’ defense has carried the torch. With the 49ers often struggling on the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles have a favorable opportunity in front of them. During last year’s postseason run, they were able to turn it up offensively. Soon, we’ll have answers on this year’s run.

The Eagles and the 49ers are slated for a 4:30 PM ET kickoff on Sunday.
