The New England Patriots have pulled Drake Maye from their Week 18 game versus the Miami Dolphins.

New England replaced Maye in the fourth quarter with Joshua Dobbs, who has thrown six passes this year and totaled 42 yards on four completions.

Let's take a look at why New England decided to pull Maye from their season finale.

Why Patriots pulled Drake Maye vs. Dolphins

The answer is pretty simple: The Patriots are blowing out the Dolphins, so there is no reason to leave Maye in the game.

New England's Pro Bowl signal-caller finished the day with 191 passing yards and one touchdown, and also added 41 yards on the ground.

With their win in Miami, the Patriots finished the regular season with a 13-4 record. They are currently the No. 2 seed, but could move up to the top spot if the Denver Broncos lose to the Los Angeles Chargers, which doesn't look very likely at this point.

New England will likely be the two seed and face the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round.
