Will Taylor Swift perform at the Super Bowl halftime show? Why pop star might be at Chiefs-49ers, not performing image

Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour" has become a global phenomenon. It has sold out stadiums across the world, with tickets selling out in a matter of seconds every time they've gone online.

She also happens to be dating one of the stars of the NFL's biggest phenomenon: Travis Kelce of the Chiefs. The relationship has been at the center of the NFL world, and throughout Kansas City's improbable playoff run, she has been at each game as a spectator to cheer on Kelce.

Now, as Kelce and the Chiefs prepare for the biggest game of the NFL calendar, there has been plenty of speculation as to whether Swift will leave the Kelce family box and step onto the field to join the spectacle of the big game. The Super Bowl halftime show is part of what makes the game as watched as any televised event in the United States.

Will she or won't she? Here's what you need to know.

Will Taylor Swift perform at the Super Bowl halftime show?

The Super Bowl 58 halftime stage is slated to belong to Usher, and as things stand, it appears it will only be Usher.

If he is joined by anyone, it certainly appears Swift will not be among them. She is not going to be performing at the Super Bowl, even if she does wind up attending the big game, according to TMZ.

According to the report, Swift will not even be participating in the lead-up to the game. Her only presence will be in the stands.

Just prior to the Super Bowl, Swift's Eras Tour continues with a four-day stop in Tokyo from February 7-10. Assuming she jets straight to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl on February 11, she'll then head back across the Pacific to pick up her tour with a three-day stop in Melbourne, Australia.

Has Taylor Swift ever performed at the Super Bowl?

Swift has been at plenty of NFL games, particularly this year with the Chiefs, but she has never been on the stage at the league's biggest game.

There have been plenty of major stars performing at the Super Bowl. Usher will be the latest. He's following up Rihanna and joins a list of premier talents like Beyonce, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Prince, and U2, among many others.

Will Taylor Swift be at the Super Bowl?

It's far from a guarantee. Swift has a show in Tokyo the night before the Super Bowl, meaning she will have to cross the Pacific in order to get to Las Vegas for the big game.

TMZ appeared to make it seem Swift will be there, saying that "there are zero plans to have her participate in the Super Bowl whatsoever -- outside of her being there as a fan."

Swift will be coming off four straight nights performing in Tokyo, and the last show will start at 6 p.m. Japan Standard Time, which is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas. The flight is around 12 hours from there. If her concert ends after three hours and she leaves right away, she could arrive in Las Vegas nearly a full day before the game starts.
