Joe Montana. Tom Brady. Now Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs quarterback continued his stellar NFL resume on Sunday night in Las Vegas, as Mahomes helped lead Kansas City to an overtime win against San Francisco at Super Bowl 58. Not only was it the franchise's second consecutive championship victory, but it marked the Chiefs' third title in five years, solidifying the team as a dynasty.

The rings have been impressive enough for Mahomes, but the 28-year-old QB has more hardware on the way. The quarterback was named MVP of Super Bowl 58, earning his third Most Valuable Player honor in his career.

He joins Montana and Brady as the only other players to earn three Super Bowl MVPs.

Mahomes previously earned the MVP last year during the Chiefs' Super Bowl 57 win over the Eagles. He won his first honor in 2020 when the Chiefs previously defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl 54.

Who won Super Bowl MVP in 2024?

For the third time in his career, Mahomes was named MVP of the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs QB struggled in the first half, as the 49ers held Kansas City out of the end zone for the first 30 minutes. However, Mahomes and Co. responded well in the latter portion of the contest, finding the end zone once in the third quarter and again in overtime to emerge victorious in Las Vegas.

Mahomes ended Super Bowl 58 completing 33-of-46 pass attempts for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

He also led all Kansas City rushers on the ground, accumulating 66 rushing yards in the win. His two biggest runs came in the extra frame, as Mahomes scrambled on 4th-and-1 to pick up the first down. He later converted on 3rd-and-1 with a 19-yard run to bring the Chiefs into the red zone.

QBs who have won multiple Super Bowl MVPs

Mahomes is the 32nd quarterback to win Super Bowl MVP and the sixth player to win it more than once. He joins former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw and former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady as the only QBs to win at least three Super Bowl MVPs.
