The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers consider themselves contenders at the midway point of the season.

That’s not to say they are likely to hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the year. Neither team is without flaws — Pittsburgh’s defense has struggled at times, while Los Angeles dropped early-season games to the Giants and Commanders.

Nevertheless, both teams are in the thick of fiercely contested divisional races. The Steelers responded to back-to-back losses against the Bengals and Packers by downing a resurgent Colts team in Week 9, maintaining their two-game advantage over the rest of the AFC North. The Bolts, meanwhile, edged past the Titans, sitting just one game behind the AFC West-leading Broncos.

All of this sets the stage for a high-stakes clash when Pittsburgh and Los Angeles meet on "Sunday Night Football." With high-profile quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Justin Herbert on the field, the spotlight was always going to be intense.
