Myles Garrett is standing right on the edge of NFL history — and he knows exactly how special this moment could be.
The Cleveland Browns star defensive end sits at 22 sacks on the season, putting him just a half-sack away from tying the NFL’s single-season record and one full sack away from owning it outright. That record is currently shared by Hall of Famer Michael Strahan and Steelers standout T.J. Watt.
If Garrett does get the record-breaker, he’d love for it to happen Sunday at home — and even more, he’d love for it to come against Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers has been one of the game’s legends for two decades, and Garrett made it clear that chasing a historic mark against a player of that caliber would make the moment even sweeter. In his words, it’s the kind of play you’d frame and hang on the wall.
Interestingly, Garrett hasn’t recorded a sack against Rodgers in their two career meetings, including the Browns’ earlier matchup with Pittsburgh this season — a game the Steelers won 23-9 in Week 6.
But if history is any indication, the Browns’ home field might be exactly what Garrett needs.
In Pittsburgh’s last two trips to Cleveland, Garrett has racked up five total sacks, and both games ended in Browns victories. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged that Garrett has been a major problem in that building and said his team is fully aware of the challenge ahead.
With history sitting just one play away, all eyes will be on Garrett this weekend — and on whether Aaron Rodgers ends up becoming the quarterback attached to one of the most memorable defensive moments the league has ever seen.
