Should I drop these fantasy QBs? Outlooks for Joe Burrow, J.J. McCarthy with injuries image

The question seems weekly at this point:

Fantasy football managers want to know whether to drop Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals' superstar quarterback who is out for a while after toe surgery.

He's not the only injured QB causing worries, either. J.J. McCarthy of the Minnesota Vikings is also stressing his managers out.

So what to do?

Should I drop Joe Burrow in fantasy?

First thing's first: If you have Injured Reserve spots in your league and Burrow is eligible to be placed in one, put him there.

But otherwise, if you need his roster spot for someone else, he's probably safe to drop.

If Burrow's most optimistic timeline is a mid-December return, you'll at best get him back for the fantasy playoffs. And even then, it's not clear if he'd be fully up to speed. It'd feel risky to start him in a playoff matchup in Burrow's first game back.

He's obviously a hold in a keeper league, but in a standard single-season league, dropping Burrow shouldn't come back to haunt you.

Should I drop J.J. McCarthy in fantasy?

Yes, it's safe to drop J.J. McCarthy from your fantasy football team.

The Minnesota Vikings' QB will be back from injury in a few weeks, most likely.

But even before his injury, he wasn't a fantasy starter. And if Carson Wentz strings together a couple of good weeks, there's a chance McCarthy's job is at least temporarily in question.

Drop McCarthy to fill bye week openings or to take a chance on a QB like Justin Fields if someone dropped him while he was hurt, or C.J. Stroud or Trevor Lawrence if someone has dropped them amid their struggles.
