The Chicago Bears delivered a blow to all of their non-believers on Black Friday, handing the Philadelphia Eagles a home loss behind a strong defensive performance and a bruising rushing attack.
At 9-3, the Bears not only appear to be a real contender, but they entered December as the No. 1 seed in the NFC. To win the NFC North, though, the work is still ahead.
Chicago plays its first of two remaining games against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, heading to Lambeau Field with a chance to take a 1.5-game lead over their rivals with four games to play. A loss, however, would send the Packers to the top of the division, at least for the week ahead.
Lambeau Field can be daunting, but the Packers lost back-to-back games on their home field in November. Since that point, Green Bay has collected itself and won three straight, including a Thanksgiving victory over the Detroit Lions to complete a season sweep.
With the Lions struggling to keep pace, this is now a two-team race for the NFC North crown, and the winner on Sunday will be in pole position entering the final four weeks of the regular season.
