Ollie Gordon was a preseason fantasy football sleeper for the Miami Dolphins.
And then in the first two weeks, he had a combined five catches for a total of 16 yards from scrimmage. Talk about disappointing.
But for those who didn't give up on Gordon right away, his Week 3 provided a lot of reason to believe in him.
Heading forward, Gordon has a real chance to make a difference. Here's why:
Why Ollie Gordon matters for Dolphins' RB depth chart, fantasy football
Week 3 production
Let's start with that Thursday Night Football outing against the Buffalo Bills.
Gordon ran nine times for 38 yards and a touchdown. His longest run went for 16 yards.
He stole goal-line work from De'Von Achane, which is always a key for fantasy managers seeking touchdowns, too.
If Gordon gets 10 touches or so each week, he can contribute.

Gordon's college pedigree
In 2023, Gordon was the best running back in college football at Oklahoma State.
He inexplicably fell off a cliff in 2024, and that knocked him all the way to the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
But aside from that 2024 season, Gordon always looked like a future NFL star. He definitely has some of those qualities within him.

Gordon's size
Gordon is just a very different running back than Achane.
Watching him on TNF, his sheer size stood out.
He's listed at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, and he seems to be every bit of that. He caused trouble for tacklers, and he certainly seems like he could handle a big workload.
Gordon is a player to still believe in.
