NFL QB injury tracker: Latest updates on Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love, Michael Penix Jr. more from Week 11 image

Injury news was largely positive on the quarterback front entering Week 11, with Brock Purdy returning from an extended turf toe absence and Joe Burrow nearing his return from a similar injury.

Once the games kicked off on Sunday, however, the injury bug bit a few of the league's biggest names at the position.

From the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Green Bay Packers, five teams had to call their backups into action, even if only on a temporary basis.

Here's a look at each quarterback injury from Week 11.

Aaron Rodgers

What happened to Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers suffered an injury to his non-throwing hand/wrist late in the first half and was seen grabbing at it as he finished out the half. Once the Steelers returned from the locker room, Mason Rudolph stepped in and took the reins of the offense.

The injury appeared to occur when Rodgers was hit hard after a throw late in the first half, going down in a pile of Cincinnati Bengals defenders and Steelers teammates.

Rodgers was officially labeled questionable to return with a hand injury and did not play in the third quarter despite not being immediately ruled out. The local Pittsburgh media saw the quarterback leave the stadium in street clothes with his left hand hidden in his hoodie pocket before the locker room was opened for interviews. Head coach Mike Tomlin didn't have an injury update for Rodgers in his post-game press conference. 

According to Ian Rapoport, Rodgers will have his wrist examined on Monday morning.

Jordan Love

What happened to Jordan Love?

Love suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder on a hard hit from New York Giants LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles late in he first half. He spent time in the medical tent before heading back to the locker room while backup Malik Willis led the Packers' first touchdown drive of the day. Love would return in time for the start of Green Bay's next offensive drive.

Jordan Love injury update

Love returned in the second quarter and did not appear to be visibly hampered by the injury, given that it affected his non-throwing shoulder. The Packers went on to beat the Giants 27-20 to move to 6-3-1. Love finished 13-24 for 174 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Michael Penix Jr.

What happened to Michael Penix Jr.?

Penix suffered a left knee injury while being hit after a throw in the second half of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. He was able to walk to the sideline under his own power but was visibly frustrated, throwing his wristband as he moved slowly. Kirk Cousins replaced Penix at quarterback. 

Michael Penix Jr. Injury update

The Falcons initially labeled Penix as questionable to return with a knee injury. Penix dealt with numerous injuries in his college career, though both of his ACL tears occurred in his right knee. The Falcons quarterback did not return to the game and was relieved by backup quarterback Kirk Cousins. 

Atlanta lost in overtime. Head coach Raheem Morris said after the game that he didn't have any updates on Penix's knee. 

Justin Herbert

What happened to Justin Herbert?

Herbert went to the medical tent after taking a massive hit just before the first half of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was able to return for the start of the second half. Herbert's exact injury was unclear.

Herbert didn't appear to be in serious pain as he played in the second half, but the Los Angeles Chargers did pull him from the game while trailing 35-6.

Bryce Young

What happened to Bryce Young?

Young suffered an ankle injury on a sack by Atlanta's Billy Bowman Jr. And went back to the locker room. Andy Dalton warmed up but did not need to replace Young, who would return before the end of the first half.

Young would go down in pain again late in the fourth quarter, with teammates immediately calling trainers over to the quarterback.

Bryce Young injury update

Young went back to the locker room with an ankle injury but was healthy enough to return to the game and play the second half before going down in pain again in the fourth quarter. He returned to the game and led the Panthers to a comeback overtime win over Atlanta in which he finished with a franchise-record 448 passing yards.
