NFL picks, predictions against the spread Week 16: Lions stop Steelers, Packers pop Bears, 49ers top Colts image

Week 14 was another rough week of upsets and surprising results around the NFL, the very thing that makes the league so unpredictable and exciting every season.

With only three weeks left in the 2025 regular season, here's unwrapping another full fearless forecast of professional pigskin prognostications:

POWER RANKINGS: Rams reclaim No. 1 from Broncos; Bills, 49ers rise as Packers fade for Week 16

NFL picks against the spread for Week 16

  • Game of Midweek: Rams (-1, 44.5 o/u) at Seahawks

Thursday 8:15 p.m. ET, Amazon Prime Video

The Rams are finishing at will in the red zone with their running game, receiving and tight ends. The Seahawks have been struggling to find the end zone, settling for a lot of Jason Myers scoring. Those points can make the difference in the game, with Sam Darnold making more mistakes at home than Matthew Stafford on the road.

Pick: Rams win 27-23 and cover the spread.

  • Game of the Week: Steelers at Lions (-7, 50 o/u)

Sunday 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS

Aaron Rodgers gets another stop on his NFC North reunion tour with a trip to Ford Field. He will play well with DK Metcalf and the rest of his receivers against a depleted Detroit defense. But the Steelers' defense has enough holes, especially against the run, to help Jamhyr Gibbs and David Montgomery lift Jared Goff to victory.

Pick: Lions win 30-24 but fail to cover the spread.

  • Lock of the Week: Eagles (-6, 44.5 o/u) over Commanders

Saturday 5 p.m. ET, Fox

The Eagles got their offensive (and defensive) get-well game against the Raiders. The Commanders' defense struggles in covering wide receivers downfield, power running games, running QBs and tight ends. That's bad news, facing the rediscovered completeness of Philadelphia's offense even at home in Washington.

Pick: Eagles win 34-17 and cover the spread.

  •  Upset of the Week: Patriots (+2.5, 48 o/u) over Ravens

Sunday 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock

The Patriots had a rough passing day against the Bills and it cost them despite some big running plays. Drake Maye needs a rebound game and the Ravens, although playing better defensively, still have key holes in secondary coverage. Lamar Jackson will try to follow suit of Josh Allen, but Maye should be up to the rebound task on the road with more diversity and big-pass flair around him.

Pick: Patriots win 27-24.

  • Packers (-1.5, 46.5 o/u) at Bears

Saturday 8:20 p.m. ET,  Fox

The Packers took several blows in their loss at Denver, with Micah Parsons hurting their defense and Christian Watson and Zach Tom being a tough 1-2 punch on the offense. They still have Jordan Love and the running game and a solid run defense. Caleb Williams and the Bears' run defense will oblige as the Packers finish a season sweep in swift succession.

Pick: Packers win 20-17 and cover the spread.

  • Bills (-10, 42.5 o/u) at Browns

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS

The Bills might need to grind more offensively with Josh Allen to avoid falling into a tough defensive trap on the road. Their own defense gets a break with Cleveland's rushing attack slumping. Myles Garrett may win a battle or two, but Allen will be the clear winner of the war.

Pick: Bills win 24-10 and cover the spread.

  • Chargers at Cowboys (-2.5, 49.5 o/u)

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, Fox

The Chargers face a weak pass defense that can pick apart with limited pressure for a change on Justin Herbert. Los Angeles is the nasty, physical team in this matchup and can lay the wood down more with defense for Jim Harbaugh. Dallas is on the ropes for staying alive in the playoffs and this will be a TKO for L.A.

Pick: Chargers win 24-17.

  • Chiefs (-3, 37.5 o/u) at Titans

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS

The Chiefs are in an unfamiliar situation with nothing on the line for the rest of the regular season and also won't have Patrick Mahomes starting again for a while. Gardner Minshew throws this back to an AFC South-like matchup, but he has more weapons than Cam Ward to get it done, led by Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce.

Pick: Chiefs win 27-20 and cover the spread.

  • Bengals at Dolphins (-1.5, 50.5 o/u)

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS

The Bengals were going through the motions with offense against the Ravens, failing to score a point with Joe Burrow at QB for the first time. They should have more pride in Miami, but the Dolphins are tricky vs. The pass. The Dolphins meanwhile can run all over Cincinnati with De'Von Achane and its young backup committee.

Pick: Dolphins win 27-24 and cover the spread.

  • Jets at Saints (-4, 40 o/u)

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Brady Cook vs. Tyler Shough is a QB matchup a few weeks in the making. Cook was game until pressure and mistakes got to him in Jacksonville. New Orleans' defense is playing inspired and Shough is sparking a lot in the offense at home.

Pick: Saints win 23-13 and cover the spread.

  • Vikings (-2.5, 44 o/u) at Giants

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, Fox

The Vikings got some needed positives from J.J. McCarthy the past two weeks, even though the passing results have come from unexpected receivers. Jaxson Dartt will be up for a good duel, but he faces the tougher defense at home.

Pick: Vikings win 27-20 and cover the spread.

  • Buccaneers (-3, 45.5 o/u) at Panthers

Sunday 1 p.m. ET, Fox

The Bucs have been going in the wrong direction and pushing their hold over the division at 7-7 because the Panthers haven't been taking advantage. They need to close games with Baker Mayfield the way they were doing earlier in the season. It's a little easier to trust their experience over Carolina's youth.

Pick: Buccaneers win 24-20 and cover the spread.

  • Jaguars at Broncos (-3, 46 o/u)

Sunday 4:05 p.m. ET, Fox

Trevor Lawrence goes from a six-TD day to a major road challenge at Denver's defense. The pressure can get to him and the coverage is tough. Bo Nix faces an easier secondary to navigate, but the key for him is protecting the ball better. That happens in a gritty lower-scoring matchup.

Pick: Broncos win 20-19 but fail to cover the spread.

  • Falcons (-2.5, 47.5 o/u) at Cardinals

Sunday 4:05 p.m. ET, Fox

The Falcons go to the desert where it can often be a trap. The Cardinals' offense can't keep all of its running backs and wide receivers healthy, but they have Jacoby Brissett and Trey McBride working hard to move the ball.

Pick: Cardinals win 24-20.

  • Raiders at Texans (-14.5, 38 o/u)

Sunday 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS

The Raiders are waving a big white flag and after their offense couldn't score on the Eagles on the road, there's no good feeling they will score much here. Their defense is also falling apart for Pete Carroll.

Pick: Texans win 34-10 and cover the spread.

  • 49ers (-5.5, 46.5 o/u) at Colts

Monday 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN/ABC

Christian McCaffrey and Jonathan Taylor are on the running marquee for this wacky duel between Brock Purdy and Philip Rivers. There's a lot of offensive skill talent on the field, including tight ends George Kittle and Tyler Warren, to take advantage of two injury-riddled defenses. Purdy and the Niners just are a little more loaded to take the win.

Pick: 49ers win 27-24 but fail to cover the spread.
