The final sprint to the playoffs is underway, and the NFL could see a large swath of available playoff spots clinched in a matter of hours on Sunday.
After the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams became the first two teams to lock themselves into the playoffs in Week 15, nine different teams entered Week 16 with a chance to clinch a playoff berth and guarantee they will play at least through the second weekend of January.

The Kansas City Chiefs won't be one of them. The Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 2014 last week, and Patrick Mahomes' ACL tear only added to the devastation for Kansas City.
While the Chiefs and other eliminated teams will look to pick up the pieces in Week 16, contenders will face off as well. The Pittsburgh Steelers will face a desperate Detroit Lions team as both take aim at the playoffs, while the Baltimore Ravens will try to keep pace with Pittsburgh as they face a New England Patriots team looking to put last week's collapse behind them.
The NFC South is also one of the focuses of Sunday's slate, as only one of the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will exit with a winning record and the NFC South lead when they face off in Charlotte.
