Is there a new favorite in the NFC North?

The Lions went 15-2 last season, still one of the most talented teams in the NFL entering 2025. But when the Packers traded for Micah Parsons on the verge of Week 1, it signaled that they were all-in on a Super Bowl — and with a statement 27-13 win over Detroit on Sunday afternoon, Green Bay looked the part of a title contender, even if its early.

Coming into Sunday, it was known that Parsons would be used exclusively in high-pressure pass-rushing situations due to a recent back ailment. That was the case, limiting his overall numbers, but the former Cowboy was terrific in his few snaps. Not only did Parsons sprint behind Jared Goff and bring him down for his first sack as a Packer in the fourth quarter, but the star pass rusher brought difference-making pressure on multiple key defensive stops for Green Bay.

Even without Parsons on the field, Matt LaFleur's defense was outstanding in its season-opener. The Lions' usually-strong ground game had just 2.1 yards per carry, and Detroit was shut out of the end zone until it was too late to come back. Add in a rock-solid day for Jordan Love (16-for-22, 188 passing yards, two touchdowns), and the Packers looked like a complete team.

There's a long season ahead, but considering Parsons only played a few snaps in Sunday's win, Green Bay has a lot to like about where its heading in 2025. While Detroit will look to regroup following a season-opening loss, the Packers are building an early argument as the NFC North's team to beat.

The Sporting News tracked live updates and highlights from the Packers vs. Lions matchup on Sunday afternoon, including star defender Micah Parsons' stats in his Green Bay debut. Here's what you may have missed.

Lions vs. Packers updates, highlights from NFL Week 1 game

All times ET.

Final: Packers 27, Lions 13

7:15 p.m. — The late touchdown wasn't enough to save the Lions, who fall to 0-1 this season. The Packers drain the remainder of the clock, improving to 1-0 and looking like the new NFC North favorites this season. Micah Parsons recorded his first sack with the team, Jordan Love was rock-solid, and Green Bay's defense was everywhere.

Packers 27, Lions 13

7:11 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Isaac TeSlla gets the Lions into the end zone for the first time in 2025, and it comes on a terrific catch. It took too long for Detroit though, which still trails by two scores with under a minute left.

After a review, it was confirmed that the rookie receiver got his feet in bounds on a one-handed snag.

7:03 p.m. — Think Micah Parsons was amped to get his first sack as a Packer?

7:01 p.m. — The Lions' starters are still in, down 21 with under three minutes remaining. An offsides penalty on Parsons prevented a Goff fumble play from standing. Either way, the Lions are tracking for an 0-1 start after going 15-2 in 2024.

6:57 p.m. — Tally sack No. 1 for Micah Parsons in green and yellow.

He gets to Goff late in this matchup as the Lions scramble for any points they can get, and it was a terrific play; as Goff rolled to his right, Parsons broke past his blocker, then sprinted at full-speed behind the quarterback and caught up to him just in time.

Packers 27, Lions 6

6:54 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Green Bay pads its lead late, making it a 21-point advantage as time ticks down in the fourth quarter. This has been just about everything the Packers could have hoped for out of Week 1.

6:47 p.m. — The Packers' defensive success continues. Goff is sacked again, this time on a 4th & 2 that was virtually the Lions' last chance at making this a game again. Devonte Wyatt tosses down Goff, giving the Packers the ball back with under seven minutes left. Matt LaFleur's defense has looked terrific in Week 1, even with Parsons basically only playing on third downs.

6:44 p.m. — Josh Jacobs' touchdown in a ninth-straight game is a new Packers record.

Packers 24, Lions 6

6:42 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Into the end zone tumbles Josh Jacobs, making this an 18-point advantage for the Packers. They're well on their way to a Week 1 win at Lambeau Field, should the defense contain Detroit over the final eight minutes.

6:40 p.m. — Green Bay is on the verge of extending its lead. The Packers go for a 4th & 1 deep into the red zone, picking it up to set up 1st & Goal.

6:32 p.m. — The Packers' defense has been imposing today, both with and without Parsons. They nearly force a safety on Goff, but the quarterback gets to the one-yard line to avoid the trouble.

End of third quarter: Packers 17, Lions 6

6:27 p.m. — At the end of the third quarter, the Packers remain in control. They just punted back to the Lions, but that's a better result for Green Bay than the two near-interceptions Love had at the end of the quarter.

6:21 p.m. — Detroit was almost right back in this game. First, Alex Anzalone nearly picked off Love, but couldn't hold onto the ball. Then, Brian Branch does pick off Love, even returning it for a touchdown, but two Lions penalties negate the interception. So, the Packers hold onto the ball.

6:15 p.m. — Down goes Jared Goff. Lukas Van Ness brings him down, and Micah Parsons was in the mix as well. The post-Ben Johnson era in Detroit has not been off to a good start today.

6:09 p.m. — It hasn't been all good for the Packers' offense, which has struggled in the run game. Josh Jacobs has taken his nine carries for just 16 yards; Green Bay punts the ball back to Detroit in the mid-third quarter.

Packers 17, Lions 6

6:01 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Green Bay's defense continues to stifle Goff when it matters most. The Lions settle for their second field goal, slowing down after the receptions from LaPorta. Parsons got another snap on that drive but doesn't yet have any official stats.

5:59 p.m. — Jared Goff is heating up. He's found Sam LaPorta twice on this drive, and the tight end is up to 52 yards as the Lions approach the red zone.

5:55 p.m. — The second half is under way. The Lions get the ball first.

5:47 p.m. — Micah Parsons vs. Penei Sewell has already been a treat, albeit in limited opportunities. The new Packers defender clearly disrupted Goff on his interception:

Halftime: Packers 17, Lions 3

5:40 p.m. — The Packers' offense couldn't quite capitalize on the turnover in time, but it was still a strong half for the squad. Jordan Love is 12-for-16 with two touchdown passes and completions to nine different receivers, and Parsons has brought elite pressure in his very limited snaps, especially on third downs.

While the numbers won't show it, Parsons has had an impact on this game already, and Green Bay is in command.

5:35 p.m. INTERCEPTION — This has been quite a half for Green Bay to open 2025. Evan Williams pounces on a pass from Goff in the red zone, giving Jordan Love the ball before halftime. The Lions offense can't get much going.

Once again, Micah Parsons got some pressure on Goff on the key third-down.

5:31 p.m. — At the two-minute warning for the first half, the Lions are on a long drive down the field, inside the Packers' 35-yard line. Can they find the end zone for the first time today before halftime?

5:27 p.m. — Even with Parsons playing limited snaps today, the Packers haven't needed him much with the way Love is tossing the rock.

Packers 17, Lions 3

5:19 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Jordan Love is dealing so far. He's completed 10 of his 14 passes, the latest going to Jaylen Reed for a 17-yard score. Immediately following the field goal, the Packers answer with another touchdown. Love set that play up with a 48-yard strike to Doubs.

Packers 10, Lions 3

5:13 p.m. FIELD GOAL — The Lions' offense is held out of the end zone, with Jake Bates hitting the 30-yard field goal. It's now a seven-point Packers lead.

5:11 p.m. — Detroit continues to plug away with short gains, moving into Packers territory. A taunting penalty on Xavier McKinney helped the Lions, who have already given nine total touches to Jahmyr Gibbs.

End of first quarter: Packers 10, Lions 0

5:04 p.m. — The Packers own a 10-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Love's eight completions have impressively gone to eight different receivers, and he's looked good in his first Week 1 action. Meanwhile, Micah Parsons has played just one snap, a Lions third down, but he did get some pressure on that snap.

5:01 p.m. — The defending NFC North champs are on the move. Goff finds Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 19-yard gain, as the receiver barely got both feet inbound on the sideline.

Packers 10, Lions 0

4:52 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Jordan Love remains in a rhythm to begin his 2025 season, finding Jaylen Reed on a 26-yard play. However, the Packers offense can't get much more than that, settling for a 34-yard field goal off the foot of Brandon McManus.

4:42 p.m. — 3rd & 7 comes up for the Lions, and out comes Micah Parsons. He takes his first snap as a Packer, which results in a loss of two yards for Detroit on a pass to Jahmyr Gibbs. The Lions punt.

Parsons brought some pressure on Jared Goff on his first play.

4:38 p.m. — As the Lions offense now makes its 2025 debut, the Packers defense will do the same. Will we see any Micah Parsons action yet, or will Green Bay save the star pass rusher for select plays later on?

Packers 7, Lions 0

4:36 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — One drive, one touchdown for Green Bay. Love finds his tight end, Tucker Kraft, for an opening drive score. It's a 15-yard play, and the Packers are on top at home.

4:34 p.m. — Matthew Golden is on the board with catch No. 1 with the Packers.

4:32 p.m. — In case you missed it: Micah Parsons is active today. He isn't expected to be in a full-time role, as he's dealt with a back injury recently and had limited action in training camp, but Parsons will likely be out there for key situations.

Here's the first looks at Parsons in green and yellow, along with his introduction at Lambeau Field:

4:31 p.m. — Green Bay begins with the football as each team begins its 2025 season. Jordan Love got things going with a 20-yard completion to Romeo Doubs.
