Marvin Harrison Jr. Arizona Cardinals jersey: Why fans can't buy 2024 NFL Draft pick's new jersey image

Unsurprisingly, Marvin Harrison Jr. was the first wide receiver off the board at the NFL Draft.

On Thursday night, the Cardinals acquired Harrison with the No. 4 overall pick, giving quarterback Kyler Murray a true No. 1 option. Harrison, the son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr., possesses incredible ball skills, size and route-running technique, so he will be expected to contribute immediately.

Harrison was a major reason why Ohio State won its first 11 games of the 2023 season. Even in the Buckeyes' rivalry loss to Michigan, he totaled five catches for 118 yards and one touchdown against an elite defense.

In addition to his on-field abilities, Harrison brings some much-need star power to the franchise. But fans ready to buy a Harrison jersey and wear it at State Farm Stadium next season will have to wait.

Why you can't buy Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Arizona Cardinals jersey

Harrison's Arizona Cardinals jersey isn't available to buy because he has not yet signed a preliminary NFLPA licensing agreement, which would "allow his name and likeness to be monetized" before he signs a contract.

"[Harrison's] jersey will not be available for purchase, and he will not be featured in video games until his NFLPA group licensing deal is signed," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted on Thursday.

It's unclear why Harrison hasn't signed the agreement. NBC Sports' Mike Florio speculated that Harrison could be negotiating his own deals.

"Players must join the union. They are not required to join the group licensing portion of it," Florio wrote. "They retain their full NIL rights. For a new age of college players who profited significantly from NIL deals, why sign anything away to anyone else?"
