Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has already earned one of the largest contracts in the NFL despite being in the league for just five years.
Herbert may not have the accolades compared to some of his contemporaries, but he is still cemented as the Chargers' franchise quarterback. For Los Angeles to keep up with the other AFC powerhouses that employ star quarterbacks, Herbert needs to play to his potential as a former No. 6 overall pick.
Therefore, the Chargers compensated Herbert for what they believe he is worth, which is a pretty large number in the NFL. Here's a breakdown of Herbert's finances so far in his NFL career.

I'm proud of the work we've started with SoFi's Generational Wealth Fund to provide them with the resources to achieve a strong financial future."

Justin Herbert business ventures and philanthropy
In 2022, Herbert discussed his interest in cryptocurrency, and how his penchant to collect trading cards as a kid led to him getting involved in that world.
"I actually collected trading cards growing up a little bit. I didn’t have a super great collection. I had some cards passed down to me, and I always thought it was cool that maybe one day I could be on a trading card," Herbert told Boardroom. "And I think an NFT is kind of similar to that. There are these rare moments that you can collect and keep up with. It’s been a great opportunity so far. And as long as I’m playing good football and doing my best on and off the field, all that extra stuff can take care of itself."
Herbert added that he has a team that helps him with business ventures so he can just focus on football.
"I’ve got a financial advisor who handles all that. And if I had enough time, I’d love to look into the financials of exactly where everything’s going," he said. "I have a rough idea, but for me, it’s more about being able to continue playing football. Football needs all my attention, and unfortunately, I don’t have enough time to really dive that deep into the financial side of things. But I’ve got a rough idea of it."
As for philanthropy, Herbert has donated to several charities over the years, including the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. He also held a charity softball game in Eugene, Oregon last Summer.

Where does Justin Herbert live?
Herbert grew up in Eugene, Oregon but currently lives in Southern California near the Chargers' facility. In 2022, he explained how living in Southern California was helping him off the field.
"It’s been a great opportunity so far because the community in general has done so much to help our team, and we’re not a team without the people to show up and support," he said, via Boardroom. "The community has been great, and we’ve actually started a lot of community initiatives, whether it’s a school in inner city L.A. or down in Orange County where we currently are practicing."
