Jaylen Warren's backup RB on Steelers depth chart takes spotlight with surprise illness news image

The Pittsburgh Steelers need a win Monday night to maintain their lead in the AFC North Division.

They didn't need the news they got Monday morning, when Jaylen Warren was added to the injury report with an illness and given a questionable designation.

Warren is the Steelers' top running back, and he'd be crucial to their chances of beating the Miami Dolphins on MNF.

There's no telling for sure whether Warren will play or be out, but the picture is foggy now for sure.

Who is Jaylen Warren's backup RB?

Jaylen Warren's backup is Kenneth Gainwell.

Gainwell already sees ample playing time even when Warren is healthy, and he'd turn into more of a workhorse if Warren was out.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB depth chart

This is what the Steelers' RB depth chart looks like when all are healthy:

  1. Jaylen Warren
  2. Kenneth Gainwell
  3. Kaleb Johnson

The Steelers also have two RBs on their practice squad. If one is elevated later Monday, that'll tell us something about Warren. Max Hurleman and Lew Nichols are those practice squad running backs.
