The Green Bay Packers issued a proposal to have the 'Tush Push' play banned. However, the NFL owners voted 22-10 in favor of keeping the play.
Ironically enough, 22-10 was also the score of the Philadelphia Eagles' Wild Card round win over the Packers back in January, so the drama continues between these two teams.
The Eagles have become the main beneficiary of the "Tush Push" play in recent years, and it has created plenty of controversy about whether or not plays such as those should be banned.
Now, former five-time Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh has weighed in on the controversy, and it's worth noting he was a mainstay on the defensive line for a long time in the league.
"The Tush Push is part of the game, no need to ban it. Don’t put yourself in a position where it can happen. Create negative plays, force turnovers, and if you’re tired of seeing it.. stop it. Bow up and beat it straight up!"
A star nose tackle such as Suh issuing this statement means a lot, and it shows how widely debated this "Tush Push" play is across the league.
The league needed 24 teams to vote to ban it, but only 22 did, and the 10 teams that voted against banning the play were the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and the Eagles.
But, for now, the "Tush Push" remains.
