TL;DR

  • * Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco is out for the game against the Buffalo Bills due to a knee injury.
  • * Pacheco suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during last week's win against the Washington Commanders.
  • * Coach Andy Reid confirmed Pacheco avoided serious injury and is expected back after the bye week.
  • * Kareem Hunt, Brashard Smith, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire will share running back duties for the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to right the ship after a rocky stretch in the 2025 schedule, as they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. However, KC will be without one of the main cogs in their offensive machine.

Running back Isiah Pacheco, the team's leading runner with 78 carries for 329 yards and one rushing touchdown, has been ruled out due to a knee injury. The 26-year-old speedster was knocked out in the fourth quarter of the team's 28-7 win over the Washington Commanders last week.

Pacheco was injured by a tackle from Commanders cornerback Trey Amos, resulting in a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

A social media post by CBS Sports' Wolfson helped clear up Isiah Pacheco's overall status and how the team looked to manage without him this week.

"Isaiah Pacheco OUT for today’s game, but Andy Reid telling me he avoided serious injury and should be back after the bye," Wolfson wrote. "Expect Kareem Hunt, Brashard Smith, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire to carry the load."

Head coach Andy Reid discussed Pacheco’s injury in his weekly media conference, and he also verified that it was not of the long-term variety.

“I don’t think so,” Reid said. “We’ll just see how he is moving around. Tough kid, [and] there was a point there where he wanted to go back in, and I wouldn’t let him. But that’s how he’s wired; you’d have to cut his leg off to stop him."

The Chiefs (5-3) and Bills (5-2) will kick off at 4:25 ET, with coverage of the game being provided by CBS.
