Seahawks: 2012-2021
Wagner's professional career commenced with the Seahawks, who drafted him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He swiftly became a foundational element of the defense, rapidly proving himself an indispensable member of the unit widely recognized as the "Legion of Boom."
During his second year, Wagner was instrumental in guiding the Seahawks to a decisive 43-8 triumph against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. Over his ten years in Seattle, he achieved more than 100 tackles for 10 straight seasons, establishing a team record.
While playing for The Seahawks previously, Wagner was widely considered one of the NFL's top linebackers, achieving eight straight Pro Bowl nods between 2014 and 2021, along with Six First-Team All-Pro selections. His sustained excellent performance resulted in his selection for the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team and his becoming the Seahawks' record holder for tackles, with a total of 1,383 tackles accumulated over this timeframe. He also contributed five sacks in 2013 and recorded a memorable 98-yard interception return for a touchdown during the 2018 season.
Rams 2022 Season
In 2022, Wagner committed to a five-year agreement with Los Angeles Rams. Even though the Rams had a tough season, he put up a great individual performance, playing in every single one of the 17 games. Wagner topped the team with 140 total tackles and recorded a personal best 6.0 sacks, in addition to two interceptions. His consistent high-level performance led to him being named Second-Team Associated Press All-Pro during his sole season with The Rams.
Following the 2022 season, Wagner and the Rams mutually agreed to part ways, making him a free agent after just one year of his five-year contract. The deal’s financial structure allowed the Rams to exit the contract after the first year.
Seahawks 2023 season
After spending one year in Los Angeles, Wagner returned to Seattle in 2023, adding to what was already a historic Seahawks legacy.
That season, he led the NFL in total tackles with 183 stops, tying a Seahawks single-season record, and earned Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro honors.
