Most Super Bowl wins by a coach: Chiefs' Andy Reid can join NFL royalty with second ring image

Andy Reid can already start getting modeled for his bust in Canton.

The Chiefs head coach is in the second half of what will be Hall of Fame career, and in his Age 64 season, he has added yet another bullet point to his resume: he has guided Kansas City to a third Super Bowl appearance during his Chiefs tenure, with a chance to pick up his second ring against the first team he guided to a Super Bowl.

Reid already has a legacy that stands strong without a second ring. He is in the top five in wins, playoff wins and conference championship titles. He has taken two teams to multiple conference championship games and has guided two different teams to the Super Bowl.

Adding a second ring would really just be the cherry on top of his stellar career, and it would put him further into the most elite company of NFL coaches.

Here's a look at all the coaches with multiple Super Bowl wins.

Most Super Bowl wins by a coach

Eagles vs. Chiefs will mark the 57th edition of the Super Bowl. Over the previous 56 game, only 13 coaches can claim multiple rings.

Those 13 coaches have accounted for 60.7 percent of the Super Bowl victories. The rest of the titles belong to 22 other head coaches.

Should Reid join the list of multiple-championship coaches, he would continue the trend of coaches who have won multiple Super Bowls with the same team. There has yet to be a coach to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. Of all those coaches on the list, only four are not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Bill Belichick, Tom Coughlin, Mike Shanahan and George Seifert. The only reason Belichick isn't in Canton is because he's still on the sidelines in Foxborough.

Most championship wins by a coach

The first Super Bowl was held after the 1966 season. A number of other coaches have multiple NFL championships, or at least one championship and one Super Bowl victory.

Two coaches, Hank Stram and Lou Saban, recorded championships in the AFL before it merged with the NFL.

Counting previous championships, Reid would be the 26th coach to lead his team to two titles.

Most conference championships by a coach

The Chiefs head coach earned his fourth conference championship this season when he guided the Chiefs past the Bengals. And with a fourth Super Bowl appearance, he has joined an exclusive club of coaches who have at least four conference titles.

Reid became the ninth head coach in NFL history to win four conference championships, joining a list composed of six Hall of Famers, Belichick and Dan Reeves.

Most playoff wins by a coach

Reid's victory against the Bengals in the AFC championship moved Reid to second on the all-time playoff wins list. The only coach with more wins remains Bill Belichick, who has 31 playoff wins in his coaching career.

Eighteen NFL coaches have recorded double-digit playoff win totals.

The gap between Reid and the closest active coaches is 10 wins, with John Harbaugh, Pete Carroll and Mike McCarthy coming in at 11. If their teams made it to the playoffs each year as a wild card, it would still take three years of winning the Super Bowl — not to mention Reid winning no more playoff games — for any of those coaches to pass Reid in playoff wins.

SN EXPERT PICKS: Eagles have slight edge over Chiefs

Reid also holds the distinction of being the only head coach with at least 10 playoff wins with multiple franchises. He won 10 playoff games as head coach of the Eagles and has won 11 with the Chiefs.
