AFC South standings: What Texans win over Colts, Jaguars victory means for playoff race image

The AFC South is one of the tightest divisions in the NFL, and it got even tighter on Sunday.

The Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts played for the first time this year, with the Texans coming up with another huge victory. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars steamrolled the Tennessee Titans, continuing their resurgent season in 2025.

Therefore, the AFC South title is up for-grabs, with three teams firmly in play to fight for the top. While at one point it seemed like the Colts would run away with the division, Indianapolis now has to fight to regain first place.

Here's a look at how the AFC South looks after Week 13.

For the first time since Week 1, the Jaguars are in first in the AFC South. Indianapolis has lost three of its last four games, while Jacksonville has won three of four, setting up a crucial matchup against each other next week.

Additionally, the Texans are one of the hottest teams in the NFL, having won five of their last six and seven of their last nine. Houston is very much in play to win the AFC South if the team can keep up this level of play.

Finally, the Titans have clinched last place in the division for another season, as they are the only team in the league with just one win on the year.

The Colts have one of the toughest remaining schedules in the league, as they have five games against teams looking to make the playoffs. That includes two games vs. The Jaguars, which will likely decide the AFC South winner, along with games against the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, two teams currently holding positioning in the NFC playoffs.

In the final week of the season, the Colts head to Houston to play the Texans, a tough way to end the regular season.

Jacksonville's remaining schedule is very boom-or-bust. The Jaguars have two games vs. The Colts to help decide a division winner, and they play the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos on the road. However, Jacksonville also hosts the Titans and New York Jets, two teams with a combined four wins, before the season ends.

In need of a strong finish to the season, the Texans have to navigate a tricky schedule. Houston must play the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers in tough road matchups, but they host the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders in favorable home games. If the Texans are alive in Week 18, they get to host the Colts in a crucial final game.
