The New York Jets' 2025 season has been a major disappointment. While it was never going to instantly click for the Jets in 2025, it's still been a letdown season.

But, after some savvy moves, the future of the organization looks promising. The Jets have plenty of draft picks in the next two draft classes, and for the 2026 NFL Draft, things might be getting even better.

According to Nick Korte of Over the Cap, the Jets might be getting a better draft pick in 2026 than initially believed. Thanks to New England Patriots' Morgan Moses reaching a $1.5 million incentive, the Jets could land a better compensatory pick for losing Moses.

How Jets could land better draft pick thanks to Patriots' Morgan Moses

"Morgan Moses earning this $1.5 million playtime incentive is also good news for the Jets," Korte notes, "as it's likely to raise the value of his contract in the compensatory formula to the 5th round, thus upgrading a 7th round 2026 comp pick to a 5th for NYJ."

Moses can earn this $1.5 million incentive if he plays 90% of the Patriots' offensive snaps this season, and he's expected to hit that mark this weekend against the Jets.

This is a significant difference. A 7th round compensatory pick would fall somewhere in the mid 200's in the NFL Draft. Instead of selecting somewhere in the 250 range, the Jets could wind up picking much, much higher.

For reference, in 2025, the 7th round compensatory picks were from picks 249 through 257. The 2025 5th-round compensatory picks fell between picks 169 and 176.

If this holds, then the Jets not only would be getting an extra draft pick to work with in 2026, but it would be one that jumps up nearly 100 spots.

That's a significant update to this compensatory pick the Jets are set to receive from the Patriots' signing of Moses this past offseason.

For a team eyeing a rebuild, this kind of bump in draft stock would be a massive deal. Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn could be getting a great draft pick in 2026, as long as the NFL's compensatory pick formula favors the Jets.
