The New York Jets are welcoming the Miami Dolphins to East Rutherford, New Jersey, for a Week 14 matchup that could have a big impact on the draft status for the Jets and even the playoff status for the Dolphins.

With the cold weather in the forecast, the Jets should have the advantage over the Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa. For this matchup, things will be a little bit different for the Jets.

The Jets are wearing new uniforms this week against the Dolphins, and as ESPN's Anthony Gharib explained, the Jets' new uniforms, a very dark green jersey and pants with a similarly colored helmet, have some interesting reasoning behind them.

Why Jets are wearing unique dark-green uniforms vs. The Dolphins

"The New York Jets will debut their 'Gotham City Football' uniforms against the Miami Dolphins." Gharib writes. "The threads are part of the new 'Rivalries' series unveiled this season and pay homage to the Jets' history."

The Jets are wearing these new-look uniforms as an homage to the Jets franchise history and feature some interesting color combinations.

Gharib reveals that the "dark Empire Green" colored jerseys will feature a "black, green, and gray trim on a Joe Namath-era chassis."

Also, on the back neck of the jerseys, the text "Gotham City Football" will be present. The numbers will be in Gothic font and comprise a new-look uniform for the Jets.

It's a unique take for the Jets on a standard all-black jersey, as this one has hints of green instead of a fully black jersey.

As part of the "Rivalries" series this season, the Jets-Dolphins rivalry is getting some extra spice with this interesting new uniform debuting in Week 14.

The Dolphins will be wearing their white jerseys and white helmets with teal pants, making for a fascinating color-clash for this pivotal Week 14 matchup.
