Latest trade prediction sends $230 million quarterback to New York Jets image

The New York Jets were penciled in to take a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft after going 3-14 in 2025. That was until Oregon quarterback Dante Moore decided to stay at Oregon for another season, forgoing the draft.

The Jets still need a quarterback, though, for the 2026 season and beyond. Justin Fields was benched after signing a two-year, $40 million deal last March, and neither Tyrod Taylor nor Brady Cook are the long-term answers for the franchise. With that in mind, Aaron Schatz predicts that the Jets will make a big trade for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

"The Jets will trade for Kyler Murray and give him his second chance in the NFL," Schatz writes. "Murray is a bad fit for teams that want to run a lot of under-center offense, but the Jets ran the eighth-most shotgun or pistol sets in 2025. A trade for Murray's big contract would likely cost very little in draft capital."

Murray was shut down for the season by the Cardinals after five games when he sustained a foot injury. Jacoby Brissett led the Cardinals the rest of the way. He's missed significant time in three of the last four seasons due to injury, which could make some teams hesitant to acquire him.

Murray currently carries a cap hit of just over $53 million in 2026.
