Kris Boyd shooting updates: Latest news on Jets CB in critical condition after incident in Manhattan image

Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in "critical condition" after he was involved in a shooting in New York City in the early morning of Sunday, Nov. 16, according to New York Post

The investigation is considered to be ongoing. No arrests have currently been made, per police.

Boyd, 29, is in his first year as a member of the Jets. A seventh-round pick in 2019 by the Minnesota Vikings, the cornerback spent four years in Minnesota before one-year stints with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans

Boyd has been on injured reserve since the preseason after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

Here are the latest updates on Boyd after the shooting incident.

Kris Boyd shooting updates

Boyd was shot and critically wounded in Manhattan early Sunday morning, per reports. According to the New York Post, he is "clinging to life at Bellevue Hospital."

The 29-year-old was "shot in the abdomen outside Sei Less restaurant after a dispute turned violent," the New York Post said, adding that he "lapsed in and out of consciousness" before being taken to the hospital. Boyd is "critical but stable," The Athletic reports.

The shooting reportedly took place in Midtown on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue around 2 a.m., according to police.

The Jets released a brief statement Sunday afternoon, saying, "We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time."

Kris Boyd contract

Boyd has a one-year, $1.6 million contract for the 2025 season, though he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury ahead of Week 1. He has made just north of $8 million in his NFL career, according to Spotrac.

The Jets' cornerback depth chart is thinner after the Sauce Gardner trade, but Boyd was not a factor after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in the preseason.

Brandon Stephens and rookie Azareye'h Thomas are starters when healthy, while Jarvis Brownlee is the Jets' slot corner after coming over from the Tennessee Titans in a September trade.

Qwan'tez Stiggers and Ja'Sir Taylor are in place as part-time players behind the starters.
