The New York Jets are 3-13 and a complete disaster this season. Defense has been a major disappointment, the offense isn't great, and Aaron Glenn is already on the hot seat.

While Glenn isn't going anywhere, plenty of other changes are coming for the Jets. One of those could come in the form of Breece Hall departing in free agency.

For The Ringer writer Austin Gayle, the scenario where Hall leaves in free agency isn't just a possible outcome; it's the one he's wishing to happen, as he wants Hall to get away from the disaster that is the Jets.

Writer from The Ringer hopes Breece Hall leaves Jets in FA

"His number don't jump off the page, but the Jets are mostly to blame for that," Gayle writes. "... He is a super-talented running back on a super-bad football team. Hopefully that will change in 2026, for his sake."

The Jets aren't likely to become contenders next season, even if they have a great offseason. With a shaky future, Hall might not be a standout running back next season.

But, for Gayle, who has Hall ranked as his 10th-best free agent, Hall is someone he wants to see on a new team who can maximize his dual-threat skillset.

Hall is one of the best running backs in the NFL, but as things currently stand, the Jets' running back cannot get much going every week.

The Jets aren't good enough to see a running back turn in a stellar performance week in and week out. They're down too much, too early in a game.

Adding Hall to a better team should give the 24-year-old running back plenty of room to run, and could help him cement his name among the elite backs in the NFL.

Gayle believes Hall is one of the best players in free agency and would be more than okay with a general manager spending $11 to $13 million on Hall this offseason.

But such a move should only come for a team that has an established offense in place for Hall to join. Returning to the Jets wouldn't allow Hall to break out as a superstar, despite showing the potential to become one.

Gayle's wish for Hall this winter is for the young star running back to join a new team and leave behind the Jets, who've not given Hall much of a chance in recent seasons, but especially in 2025, with how bad the offense and defense have been.
