The New York Jets aren't going to surprise anyone this season.
Their roster looks like a team that should run the ball a lot. And that's exactly what they plan to do with a stable of ball carriers that includes Justin Fields, Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis.
ESPN's Dan Graziano shared more insight into the plans in a new article Thursday:
"My understanding is that the offense plans to employ a run-heavy, keep-away style leaning on running backs Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, along with quarterback Justin Fields' running ability," Graziano writes. "The Jets hope to get early leads and lean on their strengths. At some point, Fields will have to make plays from the pocket in big third-down spots. If his ability to do that surpasses expectations, the Jets could maybe expand their offense from there. But in the meantime, expect them to run, run and run some more."

Hall is the returning star, but he's a tricky case this season. It's the final year of his contract. Hall has been mentioned in trade rumors, although nothing like that seems forthcoming at the moment. But he's the guy who might have the least time with the Jets remaining.
Allen is a powerful runner and a popular fantasy football sleeper. If he gets a 50-50 split with Hall, he could put up big numbers.
Davis is sort of the forgotten man, but he too has the potential to be a strong performer if given the opportunity.

Earlier in the summer, new head coach Aaron Glenn suggested that he wanted to get Allen and Davis more work. That's part of what made it seem like the writing was on the wall for Hall.
It'll all hinge on Fields, of course. The new starting quarterback is replacing Aaron Rodgers and will face his former team and the Jets' former QB in Week 1 against the Steelers.
If Fields plays up to his potential, the Jets can be very good. If not, the run-heavy plan may not be enough to win football games in the modern NFL.
