The New York Jets could end up with the best player in the 2026 NFL Draft, but it might not be at the position that everyone wants.
It’s understandable that Jets fans want a quarterback, but if they can’t land Fernando Mendoza or the QB they love, going with the best player available would be wise.
With the way the roster is currently constructed, the Jets probably have to force taking a quarterback. They aren’t necessarily boxed into one position, which gives them flexibility as the draft approaches, but we all know they need a quarterback.
However, with what we’ve seen this season, there are many holes.
That’s especially true on defense, where getting any stops has become important.
Aaron Glenn’s system hasn’t been up to par this year. Finding elite defenders who can make an impact early isn’t easy, which is why the Jets might try to find one.
Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut believes there’s one the Jets should be looking at.
One player separating themselves is Arvell Reese. Reese is viewed by many as the top prospect in the 2026 class, proving how good he is at Ohio State. Johnson had the Jets taking him with the No. 4 pick.
“The New York Jets get the best prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft. Arvell Reese’s athleticism and versatility stand out on the field, as fans will see during the College Football Playoff. In Aaron Glenn’s defense, Reese offers the ability to both drop back in zone coverage and hold his own, and he can be deployed as an edge rusher. It is rare to find a linebacker with this level of flexibility and all-around talent, and Glenn is a great coach to get the most out of Reese,” he wrote.
A talent of Reeves is rare; he’s that good. There’s still a long way to go before the 2026 NFL Draft, but Reese is already being talked about as one of the best.
If the Jets are in the position, he’s the type of prospect they might have a hard time passing on.
