The New York Jets took a chance in the offseason.
They let Aaron Rodgers go, and to fill their starting QB spot, they signed Justin Fields.
It hasn't worked.
On Tuesday, year one officially ended for Fields as the Jets placed him on Injured Reserve.
Fields is under contract for another season, but he may never get there.
ESPN's Rich Cimini wrote this on X on Tuesday evening:
"I doubt that Fields ever suits up again for the Jets. They owe him $10M gtd next season, but it’s time to move on. It didn’t work. Time for a reset at QB."

Other NFL teams have certainly paid a lot more to get rid of a quarterback they didn't want anymore than the $10 million it would cost the Jets with Fields.
He's always been a highly intriguing prospect since his days at Ohio State.
The Chicago Bears made him a first-round pick, and while Fields was a great runner there, he wasn't a winning QB.
He couldn't break through in Pittsburgh, either.
Now, Fields appears to be a failure with the Jets.
It seems unlikely that another team would give him a chance as a starter at this point. He'll have to prove he can be a reliable QB2 until he potentially gets another opportunity.
And if this is it for Fields with the Jets, it definitely hasn't been particularly fun.
