The New York Jets officially clinched a losing season with their loss on Sunday to the Baltimore Ravens.
Potentially more importantly, they continued to keep themselves in prime NFL Draft order positioning for their first-round pick in 2026.
The loss on Sunday dropped the Jets to 2-9.
As things stand, they are lined up to pick No. 2 in the 2026 NFL Draft, with only the Tennessee Titans in a better spot than them.
The Jets are likely going to look for a quarterback, so the higher up they can pick, the better.
New York has been linked a lot to Fernando Mendoza, the QB from Indiana. Oregon QB Dante Moore could also make his way to the top of the draft board.
The Jets played Sunday without Justin Fields, who was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor.
Taylor threw an early touchdown to John Metchie to give the Jets the lead on Sunday, but eventually it was Derrick Henry scoring a couple times to give the Ravens the win.
While losing is never fun, in reality, the Jets' future will be helped more by losing than winning. They need that QB, and however they can get him, that's what has to happen.
So losing right now is a bit like winning. The players on the field won't feel that way, but it matters to Jets fans.
