The New York Jets (3-10) could be on the verge of starting a rookie quarterback in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4).

ESPN insider Rich Cimini gave a new update on the status of Jets quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor (groin) and Justin Fields (knee), saying that neither player was spotted at practice on Thursday.

With these questioning updates this late in the week, it appears that head coach Aaron Glenn is going to have to rely on a different quarterback to start this week.

Rookie QB Brady Cook in line to start Week 15 vs. Jags

So what other quarterbacks are the Jets going to rely on in their matchup on Sunday? The answer could be rookie quarterback Brady Cook and Adrian Martinez.

Rich Cimini said that the two were the only quarterbacks who were in uniform for the Jets at practice on Thursday.

Cook, 24, was signed as a free agent after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. The University of Missouri prospect got his first action of the regular season in Week 14 after Tyrod Taylor went down. While completing 14 of 30 passes, Cook finished with 163 yards and two interceptions.

Martinez, 25, is an undrafted prospect as well from the 2023 NFL Draft. He would later play in the UFL and earn the league's MVP award in 2024.

The Nebraska and Kansas State alum has played for both the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets in the 2025 season.

Martinez's only appearance in a regular-season game came in Week 9, where he logged one carry for negative yards in the 49ers' win over the New York Giants.

With Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor showing no signs of playing in Week 15, Brady Cook will be expected to start the game with Adrian Martinez serving as the backup.
