- Cook will learn from veteran Tyrod Taylor's experience this season.
The New York Jets are opting for a quarterback switch during a dismal season. Nevertheless, third-string QB Brady Cook isn't slated for a promotion on the depth chart.
On Wednesday, head coach Aaron Glenn declared that Tyrod Taylor would be the starting quarterback, replacing Justin Fields. While a slight majority of Jets supporters hoped to see Cook play, they'll need to be patient for now.
Cook wasn't selected in the 2025 NFL Draft after his time at Missouri. He played his entire five-year college tenure at Missouri, where he passed for 50 touchdowns against 15 interceptions.
Glenn discussed Cook's encouraging progress with journalists, even though his playing time hasn't expanded at this point.
“Still developing,” Glenn said. “There's been a plan for him from the very beginning. I want to make sure we do what's right for him. Who knows, we'll see what happens as the season progresses. I'm not promising anything. But he knows exactly what his role is when it comes to this team. I'll say right now, Tyrod is our starter.”
Even though he isn’t going to play anytime soon, Cook will now have the opportunity to watch how the 15-year veteran in Tyrod Taylor operates, which should be good for his development down the road as he tries to find his way in the NFL.
