The New York Jets are in the middle of a rough 2025 season, with a 3-13 record heading into Week 18. Things have not gone well all year long.
But, regardless of record, Jets' players vote on who will be named the 2025 Curtis Martin Team MVP. Amid such a rough season, there were a few standout names that deserved the honor in Breece Hall and Nick Folk.
However, as the Jets revealed Friday morning, the team MVP is neither. Instead, they've awarded the team MVP to special teamer Isaiah Williams. He was cut after Week 4, and yet, returned in a major way to win the award.
Jets name player who was cut after Week 4 as team MVP
The 24-year-old undrafted free agent has spent time with a few teams, namely the Detroit Lions and the Cincinnati Bengals, in 2024. But he joined the Jets in 2025, and following a few mistakes as a returner in Week 4, he was cut by the team.
He came back as a practice squad player, but once he returned to the roster, he didn't let go of the starting returner job all season.
Williams was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after the Jets' Week 8 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, as he returned 170-yards worth of kickoffs in that game to set the Jets offense up for success.

As a wide receiver this season, Williams has 21 receptions for 169 yards, and also has three carries for 34 yards. He's primarily a returner, but he's made some impact on offense this season.
In the return game this season, Williams has 396 return yards on punts, with two he returned for touchdowns, one against the Cleveland Browns for 74-yards, and another against the Miami Dolphins for 78-yards.
As a kick returner for the Jets, on 23 attempts, he got 695 yards on returns, with a long of 83 yards that didn't result in a score. He didn't return any kickoffs for touchdowns this season entering Week 18, but he was a highly productive returner in general.
Overall, despite the Jets' struggles this season, Williams and the return game have been incredible this season. This is a well-deserved honor for Williams, and his play was recognized by his teammates with the Jets' 2025 Curtis Martin Team MVP Award.
