D.J. Reed said the quiet part out loud.

The standout safety left the New York Jets this offseason and signed with the Detroit Lions.

Recently, Reed joined The Jim Rome Show and shared his reason for leaving.

"It's simple," Reed said. "I wanted a chance to win a Lombardi, bro. That's something that I wanted to do. I want to win a Lombardi with my teammates, my coaches, and with the organization. I just wanted to go somewhere and play good football and meaningful football. That was the main thing for me."

It's certainly been a franchise turnaround for the Lions, who have gone from a team players wanted to get away from to one of the teams everyone wants to play for."

"To be in Detroit, it's a blessing, bro," Reed said. "God really works in mysterious ways. The ownership, the Fords, head coach Campbell, everybody is just working as well so I'm just looking forward to it."

Reed signed a three-year, $48 million deal with the Lions that seems like good business for both sides. Just not for the Jets.
