Jets' Breece Hall receives $12 million free agency update from ESPN insider image

The New York Jets made a controversial decision at the NFL trade deadline to hold onto Breece Hall. Teams like the Kansas City Chiefs were interested in the star running back, but the Jets held firm in their third-round asking price.

He stayed on the roster, and now the Jets running back is set to become a free agent after the 2025 season. The Jets could decide to bring him back, and if they do, it won't come cheap.

According to ESPN insider Rich Cimini, the Jets' star running back is seeking a $10-$12 million deal in free agency, which is a step-up from his rookie contract.

Jets' Breece Hall reportedly asking for $10-$12 million in free agency

"By all indications, the Jets want to keep him after he drew heavy interest at the trade deadline," Cimini reports. "Hall could be looking for a deal around $10 to $12 million per year. The franchise tag projects at $14 million."

If the Jets decide to bring back Hall, it will likely be over multiple seasons on a $10 million-plus contract.

New York will likely have financial flexibility to have an expensive running back, as their quarterback of the future is likely a rookie from either the 2026 or 2027 NFL Draft class.

Instead of letting Hall walk and needing to find a new running back, extending Hall would give the Jets a few key pieces on offense for an incoming rookie quarterback.

Hall, Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, and potentially one of Adonai Mitchell or John Metchie could make up a solid supporting cast on offense for a rookie quarterback.

The Jets' star running back is looking to land a big contract this offseason of at least $10 million per season. While not cheap, the Jets, with an incoming rookie quarterback, should be willing to spend some money on a dual-threat running back like Hall this offseason.
