Jets' Allen Lazard makes feelings on possible trade to Steelers very clear image

With Aaron Rodgers possibly signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025, rumors linking the Steelers to a trade for New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard were inevitable.

That time is finally here. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio is reporting that Lazard is indeed "in play" for the Steelers in the aftermath of the team trading wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, which leaves Pittsburgh very thin at wide receiver once again after the team traded for DK Metcalf.

"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Jets receiver Allen Lazard is 'in play' to be traded to the Steelers," he wrote.

The Steelers' interest in Lazard will likely hinge on Rodgers signing, which many expect to happen. However, that isn't set in stone yet and Rodgers could still retire.

Rodgers loves to reunite with his former receivers, mostly because he wants players he trusts catching passes from him. Rodgers and Lazard have a lengthy history  together from their days together with both the Green Bay Packers and Jets.

Lazard has posted his three best seasons in the NFL with Rodgers throwing him the rock, with the 2024 campaign being his second-most productive in the league.

While a Lazard trade to the Steelers makes sense if Rodgers signs, the Jets wideout made his feelings on that possible deal very clear.

Lazard posted a GIF on social media from the movie "The Wolf of Wall Street" in which Leonardo DiCaprio's character says he's "not leaving," which would imply Lazard is not open to a trade to Pittsburgh.

When the Jets cut Rodgers earlier this offseason, the expectation was that Lazard wasn't long for New York. But the veteran took a pay cut to stay with the Jets.

Despite his apparent desire to remain in New York, Lazard has no control over the situation, so the Jets can trade him against his will. It is a bit surprising to see he doesn't want to go to Pittsburgh, seeing as how the Steelers give him a better chance to win than the Jets do, especially if Rodgers signs in Pittsburgh.

While we wouldn't rule out a trade, the Jets could definitely use Lazard after cutting ties with Davante Adams, which left their wide receivers room bare behind Garrett Wilson, which is not an ideal situation for new quarterback Justin Fields.
