The New York Jets are in the midst of a challenging season, with a 3-10 record, and have some significant long-term questions regarding the quarterback and defense, looking ahead to 2026 and beyond.
After the 2025 season, the Jets will have a huge Breece Hall decision to make, as the star running back is hitting free agency and is bound to field steady interest.
While the Jets don't have a solution with Hall just yet, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, they did reach an agreement with a different offensive free agent.
Jets lock up center for two years with $11 million contract
"The Jets and center Josh Myers have reached a two-year, $11 million extension with $6 million guaranteed, per source," Fowler reports. "A free agent add from 2025 is now in the fold for multiple years."
Josh Myers is now locked up for the next two years, and while it might not be a huge signing from the outside looking in, this is a key move for the Jets to make.
Having the offensive line all locked up, especially at the center spot, will be a huge boost for the Jets' new quarterback in 2026. This signing locks up four of the five starting linemen for the Jets in 2026.
Whether it's a rookie in the 2026 NFL Draft like Fernando Mendoza or another addition by way of free agency or trade, a new quarterback with a strong offensive line will be a massive boost in making things work right away.

With Myers locked up for another two years, the Jets have the majority of their offensive line under contract for the 2026 season.
Armand Membou looks like a stud, and Olumuyima Fashanu is a great offensive lineman as well. John Simpson and Joe Tippman are solid offensive linemen, and if they can keep this group together for 2026, then a transition into the NFL by a rookie could be a lot easier.
An $11 million contract over two seasons is very little for the Jets to pay to lock up their starting center for the next two years. While he might not be the best center in the NFL, he's more than capable of starting for a solid offensive line in 2026.
