Minutes after the New York Jets' epic loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season opener, head coach Aaron Glenn met with the media and would brook no talk of moral victories. It was a close game that was not decided until the final minute, when Pittsburgh's kicker Chris Bowell made a 60-yard field goal to take a 34-32 lead. Nevertheless, this was not good enough for the rookie head coach.

This is a strong statement from Glenn, especially considering how well-coached his team appeared and how well most of his guys played. The Jets went blow-for-blow with arguably the most talented quarterback in league history and made their fans proud. We even got to see Justin Fields connect with Garrett Wilson for a huge touchdown, the first of what is hoped to be many.

Glenn had an ever bolder statement for his players, however. Despite most of the team having a good day, a handful of players placed one foot firmly out the door with their performance on Sunday, and Glenn made sure everyone knew it.

It doesn't get more blunt than that and no one will be able to feign surprise if a player doesn't see the field much following a subpar performance. One name in particular comes to mind on that note, considering his costly turnover. Wide receiver Xavier Gipson's fumble gave the Steelers great field position late in the fourth quarter and arguably changed the outcome of the game.

Overall, however, it was a strong effort from the Jets and the fans should feel bolstered as they head into Week 2, but they can bet that Glenn won't allow his players or coaches to feel the same way.
