The New York Jets are 3-11, and looking ahead to the 2026 season and the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Whether it's to land a franchise quarterback or add a lot of talent to prepare for one, the Jets are looking into the future.
That means that the final three weeks of the 2025 NFL season are meaningless for the Jets. Losing out would be ideal, especially if it meant they could jump to the top of the NFL Draft order in 2026.
With the final three weeks for the Jets being meaningless, Aaron Glenn announced, according to Brian Costello of The New York Post, some major Garrett Wilson news, which dictates a season-ending outcome for the superstar wide receiver.

"Aaron Glenn said Garrett Wilson will not play for the rest of the season," Costello shared on Twitter/X Friday morning.
This decision is hardly a surprising one. Wilson doesn't have anything left to prove, and he's already signed to a long-term deal.
Bringing him back for the final three weeks makes little sense for the Jets. In fact, getting a much more consistent look at Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie will be more important than getting Wilson back on the field this season.
If the Jets can figure out how Mitchell and Metchie work, then the Jets will have a much better view of how the team can move forward on offense in 2026 and beyond.

Wilson playing in these final three weeks won't change anything for the Jets. It's a bigger risk, as an injury in those final three weeks that bleeds into 2026 would be a complete disaster.
Instead of risking such a scenario, letting Wilson sit out the rest of the year and focus on recovering for 2026, and a new quarterback makes the most sense.
Now that Wilson's 2025 season is over, the superstar wide receiver will finish his fourth NFL season with 36 receptions on 59 targets for 395 yards and four touchdowns.
The Jets will move forward with Metchie, Mitchell, Isaiah Williams, Arian Smith, and Tyler Johnson as the team's wide receivers to finish out the 2025 season with Brady Cook at quarterback.
