The New York Jets hold the second overall pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft after finishing 3-14 on the season.

With news surfacing last season that New York is likely to part ways with Justin Fields and the injuries and inconsistency from backup quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook, it is expected that the Jets will look to draft a quarterback they believe is fit to lead the franchise.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is currently projected to be selected by New York in April, behind Indiana's Heisman winner, Fernando Mendoza, who will face off in the College Football Playoff semifinal on Friday for a chance at a national championship.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith believes Moore should take his chances at Oregon by returning to the Ducks next season instead of declaring for the draft.

Smith doesn't think Moore should give the Jets the time of day

Smith and the rest of his colleagues were debating the topic on ESPN's flagship sports talk show, 'First Take', and, as usual, Smith had no problem expressing his opinions on what he believes Moore should do after this season.

"I'd go back to college before I play for the Jets. They are a football atrocity. They are awful," Smith bluntly expressed.

Regardless of whether you agree with the notable sports journalist or not, Smith has a point about not wanting the sophomore to trade in the green and yellow for green and white; the Jets have been bad, to say the least, for a long time and have not made a playoff appearance in nearly two decades.

It will be Moore's decision when it's all set and done, but Smith made it clear what he believes is the best option for the young slinger's career.
