Just one day after signing his four-year rookie contract, New York Jets first-round pick and offensive tackle Armand Membou took the field for the start of the team's rookie minicamp on Friday, which runs through Sunday.
Membou, who inked a four-year, $31.9 million deal on Thursday, will hopefully be the long-term solution at one of the tackle spots. The expectation is that he'll play right tackle after starring there at Missouri.
Olu Fashanu should man the left side, giving New York a pairing that could shore up the bookends of the offensive line for years to come.
While there isn't a ton to gauge from rookie minicamp, ESPN's Rich Cimini did note how Membou looked as advertised upon hitting the field on Friday. Cimini was impressed with Membou's movement in particular during an 11-on-11 drill.
"The draft picks are participating in 11 on 11. Different philosophy from the previous regime. First-round pick Armand Membou, who signed his contract yesterday, is what the scouting reports say — a smooth mover with quick feet," Cimini explained.
