The New York Jets are 0-7, and it's beginning to feel like there's no light at the end of the tunnel.
Amid their most recent gut wrenching loss to the Carolina Panthers, Justin Fields was benched at halftime after completing six of 12 passes for 46 yards.
Fields, the former 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has physical talent, but just hasn't been able to put it together at the pro level yet.
Aaron Glenn opens up on Justin Fields, Jets' struggles
Head coach Aaron Glenn was asked at his most recent press conference about why the Jets have been unable to maximize Fields' talents through seven games.
"That's a good question and I think there's blame to go around on a number of things when you look at that question. We have to continue to figure out, how do we put him in the best position to be successful? We also have to look at Justin; he has to execute. So there's a number of things that go into that," Glenn said via ESPN's Rich Cimini.
"Listen, we're not going to point the finger and blame just one person at all. We're not just say it's Justin's fault. We're not just going to say it's coaching. I mean, that's a situation where we all have to come together and do the best we can as far as trying to put guys in position and guys executing."
Clearly, its a collective failure between the coaching staff, Fields, and the roster around the former Ohio State star.
The offensive line has been solid this year, but the receiving core outside of Garrett Wilson, who missed yesterday's game with a knee injury is abysmal. Josh Reynold is a third wide reciever at best, and rookie Arian Smith is too far behind developmentally to see high usage.
Right now, it's hard to imagine any quarterback succeeding in New York, but with 10 games to go, the Jets are going to have to figure it out and fast.
