The New York Jets pulled off a hard-fought victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, 27-24.
Despite not being mathematically eliminated, the Jets have little to no chance of making the playoffs, and some fans think the team is better off losing games to improve their draft position come next April.
But to head coach Aaron Glenn, these victories are important, especially to a young team that is still learning what it takes to win in the NFL.
Aaron Glenn wants the Jets to get used to winning
At his Monday morning press conference, Glenn was asked how important it was for New York to win even if they didn't have something to play for.
"Winning is contagious," he responded.
"Said he thinks about how much the Saints were winning when he was on that staff and once they got going, 'it was not a question of whether we were going to win or not it was how many points we were going to win by. That's what happens when you sustain a level of winning,'" Glenn said via The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt.
So forget about draft picks, at least for now, Jets fans. This coaching staff is trying to instill something New York hasn't seen in almost two decades.
A sustained and consistent winning program.
With the way Glenn has his Jets fighting, despite the plain and obvious roster limitations, it's hard not to be excited about the future and direction of the franchise.
