The new York Jets have made a massive coaching change coming off a blowout 48-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to Brian Costello of the New York Post,  Aaron Glenn has fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.

The Jets put together a dreadful performance against Jacksonville on Sunday. Trevor Lawrence threw five touchdowns and added 51 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground, which made Lawrence the first player in history to have 300+ passing yards, five touchdown passes, 50+ rushing yards, and a rushing score in NFL history.

The Jaguars totaled 438 yards of offense and averaged a staggering 7.4 yards per play.

Wilks' defense has yet to intercept a pass this season, and with just three games remaining, the Jets could go an entire season without picking off a pass. Their 14 games without an interception to start the season is the longest such streak in NFL history.

Additionally, the Jets are 20th in the NFL in average yards per game allowed, and they are 27th in defensive EPA per play. The Jets' pass defense has been solid in 2025, ranking 12th in the NFL. However, their rush defense has been one of the worst. They allow just over 137 yards per game on the ground, which is the fourth-worst in the NFL.

It is unclear whom will take over the role as defensive coordinator for the remaining three games, but considering Glenn's background as a defensive coordinator, he will likely end up being very hands on through the final stretch.
