Aaron Glenn reveals Justin Fields' job security as Jets starting quarterback image

After yesterday's 13-11 defeat to the Denver Broncos, there are many questions surrounding the New York Jets.

Quarterback Justin Fields and head coach Aaron Glenn are at the forefront of those questions, with Glenn having been outcoached by Denver's Sean Payton and Fields having one of the worst performances in franchise history.

Fields completed nine of 17 passes for 45 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He was sacked nine times for a loss of 55 yards, meaning the Jets had -10 net passing yards on the day, the worst in franchise history.

Aaron Glenn says Jets won't bench Justin Fields

After yesterday's game in London, Glenn was asked if Fields would be the starter next week against the Carolina Panthers

"Come on man, what kind of question is that?"

While the first-time head coach brushed the question off on Sunday, during his press conference back in New Jersey today, he elaborated more on his quarterback's recent lackluster performances.

"When you look at what Justin did the games that he played, I didn't think he was bad at all. I actually thought he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, he took a step back. I'm with you guys 100% and we can't have that," Glenn told reporters.

"We have to get better with that and he knows that. He knows that better than anyone. I don't think you just try to bench a player after having one true bad game, because I thought the other games, he played fairly well."

You could make the argument that Fields hasn't been great since his outlier Week 1 performance, but the numbers don't really back it up, thanks to some inflated stats from garbage time drives when the game is already out of reach.

Regardless, the change in tune from Glenn is noticeable, and it's possible that if Fields continues to regress under center, Tyrod Taylor will have a chance as the Jets' starting quarterback.
