The New York Giants are already looking ahead to 2026.

But for now, they'll have to do that without rookie QB Jaxson Dart.

Dart is missing out again on Sunday as the Giants take on the Detroit Lions in Week 12. Jameis Winston is starting for the second week in a row.

Russell Wilson will be the backup to Jameis.

Why isn't Jaxson Dart playing today?

Jaxson Dart remains out as he recovers from concussion.

He did get back to practice this week for the Giants, but he only got limited designations. He was never a full participant.

That likely implies that Dart didn't clear concussion protocol, at least in time to prepare for the game ahead.

The Giants have no reason to risk things here. The hope will be that Dart can get back on the field in time to get some more development time before his rookie season is over.

But most important for New York is that Dart is his best, healthy self for Week 1 of the 2026 season and for many years to come.

This one week doesn't mean much for the Giants, and so Dart will watch from the sideline as he heals up.
