The New York Giants have officially fired head coach Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start. The Giants' record could look a lot different if not for three blown leads in the fourth quarter of 10+ points, and the loss to the Bears was the final straw.
Now the question becomes who will be the Giants next head coach? These six coaches will be names to watch over the next several weeks.
Kafka's move
Kafka has been named the interim head coach of the Giants, and he has been tabbed as a name to watch when it comes to future head coaches. Should he look good in this trial run, perhaps he will be promoted as the full-time head coach.
Kubiak's Klint
Kubiak has turned the Seattle Seahawks into one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, and he's done so with just one star receiver. The likes of Cody White, A.J. Barner, and Tory Horton have had big showings with Kubiak alongside star wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. In addition, Kubiak had the Saints scoring north of 40 points in each of their first two games in 2024 before Derek Carr went down with injury. He's certainly a name that will get interviews this cycle, and could be the Giants' guy.
Jesse Minter coaching
The Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator has done a terrific job over the last two seasons to turn around a poor defensive unit. The Chargers currently rank sixth in the NFL in defensive EPA per play, which is a massive step forward from what they were with Brandon Staley. It's only a matter of time before the 42-year-old gets a head job, and the Giants should certainly keep him near the top of their list.
Lou Anarumo, head coach
The former Bengals defensive coordinator was scapegoated in Cincinnati, but has found new life with the Colts in 2025. The Colts' defense ranks ninth in EPA per play, and has helped the Colts get off to an 8-2 start.
Chris Shula Stars
The Rams defense has been one of the best in the NFL this season, ranking second in the league in defensive EPA per play behind the Texans. The man calling the defense, Chris Shula, could be the next young star to come from the Sean McVay tree. At 39 years old, the grandson of the late great Don Shula could end up being one of the league's next top coaches.
Grizzard's move
Grizzard and the Buccaneers' offense have dealt with so many injuries this season. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, and Bucky Irving have all missed time this season due to respective injuries. Despite that, the Buccaneers have remained one of the league's most explosive offenses and Tampa sits atop the NFC South with a 6-3 record.
