Russell Wilson stats: How Giants QB's vintage performance vs. Cowboys pauses calls for Jaxson Dart image

After a disappointing Week 1, Russell Wilson turned back the clock for the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys.

Wilson produced a huge game as the Giants' offense exploded for 450 yards in their overtime loss against the Cowboys 40-37. That included several typical Wilson deep balls, connecting with multiple receivers down the field.

Entering the game, many fans and analysts were wondering how long Wilson would remain the starter. Wilson apparently hear all the noise and wanted to prove a point.

"This game meant a lot to me," Wilson said. "It was time to answer the call."

The performance should allow Wilson to keep his starting job moving forward, as rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart awaits his turn. Dart made his NFL debut with a few plays on Sunday in a special package, but Wilson remains at the top of the depth chart.

Here's a look at how Wilson performed on Sunday.

Russell Wilson stats vs. Cowboys

  • Completions/Attempts: 30/41
  • Passing Yards: 450
  • Yards per attempt: 11.0
  • Touchdowns: 3
  • Interceptions: 1
  • Sacks: 3
  • Passer rating: 123.0

Wilson's 450 passing yards were the second-most in his illustrious career, trailing just the 452 passing yards he had with the Seattle Seahawks against the Houston Texans in 2017.

It is the fourth time in his career that Wilson totaled over 400 passing yards in a game, and the first time since he did it with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year.

Wilson was particularly great with deep throws, as he completed seven passes that went over 20 yards in the air, including all three of his touchdowns. Additionally, over half of his passing yards went on those seven completions.

However, Wilson did throw a crucial interception late in the fourth quarter, allowing the Cowboys a chance to win the game. Before Wilson threw the interception on his final pass, he was on his way to doing something no other Giants quarterback has done in the last 40 years.

Russell Wilson highlights vs. Cowboys

Wilson had several huge highlight plays against the Cowboys. First, he found Malik Nabers down the field for the Giants' first touchdown of the season.

Then, it was Wan'Dale Robinson who hauled in a deep Wilson pass to give the Giants a late lead, which Nabers followed with a similar play of his own before regulation ended.

Wilson's performance also included a few deep completions that didn't go for scores, but were still impressive nonetheless.
