The New York Giants have reportedly fired head coach Brian Daboll.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are finally parting ways with the embattled head coach after three-plus seasons at the helm.

"Sources: Brian Daboll is out as the Giants head coach," Schefter reported.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will be the team's interim head coach for the rest of the season. It does not appear general manager Joe Schoen has gotten the boot.

It has been quite the fall from grace for Daboll, who started his Giants tenure off with a bang after posting a 9-7-1 record in 2022 that led to a playoff berth (and playoff win) and NFL Coach of the Year honors.

However, things have completely gone off the rails for the Giants since then, with Big Blue posting an 11-33 record since 2023, including a 2-8 mark in 2025.

Whenever the Giants did manage to take a step forward with Daboll in recent years, it seemed like the team would take two steps backward after that and the team has been marred by total dysfunction in the process.

Daboll's seat was red hot entering the 2025 campaign, and it got even hotter after the Giants jumped started 0-3.

But the emergence of Jaxson Dart gave Daboll hope, although not even the upstart rookie could overcome the total ineptitude of the franchise under Daboll.

It remains to be seen if Schoen is next, but the Giants should absolutely fire him. As bad of a job as Daboll did as the head coach, Schoen also did a crummy job building this roster and it might actually be worse off than when he arrived.
