Jon Gruden has openly admitted that he would like to get back into coaching football.
Most notably, Gruden has been interested in coaching college football in the SEC. However, there have been some linking him as a potential dark horse candidate in the New York Giants' current search for a new head coach.
Following the team's midseason decision to fire head coach Brian Daboll, the Giants have been linked to many different potential candidates.
Granted, it's highly unlikely that Gruden will be coaching in New York next season. Despite that fact, there are many who would love to see him back on an NFL sideline.
Amid the Giants' search for a new head coach, Gruden spoke out with his honest thoughts. He believes that New York can offer a "highly desirable" landing spot for whoever it chooses to pursue.
Have spoken to multiple NFL assistant coaches who see the Giants job as extremely attractive in large part b/c of Jaxson Dart. Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden said it's "very desirable." Giants won't have a problem getting candidates lined up. Pic.twitter.com/pCIf4THgSn

Throughout his head coaching career in the NFL, Gruden has led his teams to a 117-112 record. He was able to win a Super Bowl as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in the 2002 NFL season.
The most likely scenario seems to be that Gruden does not get a head coaching job at the NFL or college level during this cycle. Due to his past issues, many teams would shy away from bringing him in, simply due to the outside noise that the move could create.
Despite that legitimate line of thinking, Gruden is a diehard football guy. He is an excellent head coach and players loved playing for him. It would not be surprising to see someone take a flier on him.

As for the Giants' coaching search, some names who have been brought up as candidates include Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, and many more. With a young roster in place, New York has a lot to offer.
With all of that being said, it will be interesting to see who comes the next head coach in New York. Perhaps Gruden will be a consideration for the franchise.
Regardless of what happens and whether or not he's included in the conversation, Gruden is clearly a fan of the Giants' future.
